Life Cycle
Adolescence
During the first week of a cub's life, its mother spends most of her time feeding and grooming. She frequently moves cubs between nests. After 2-3 weeks, the cubs eyes open, and the mother only tends to her cubs every few hours. 90 days from birth, the cubs venture out of their nest and begin to eat solid food. They are fully weaned after 6 months, but remain with their mother until her next litter is born.
Adulthood
Red pandas are capable of reproduction at 18 months old, and growing halts 2-3 years after birth. Since their reproduction rates are slow, recovering from population decreases is difficult. Males rarely help raise the young.
Reproduction
Red pandas are a solitary species, and only interact during the mating season. They mate between January and March with more than one partner. A litter consists of 1-4 cubs.
Death
An average red panda lives 5-10 years, and occasionally reach 15.
